Numeracy Bank Overview
Numeracy Bank 3 is designed to ensure successful integration of ICT into daily maths lessons. It can be used in full screen mode on an interactive whiteboard or large monitor for teacher-led whole class or group work sessions, where a concept or skill is being introduced or discussed. It is envisaged that it will be used mainly as a means by which students can practice and consolidate what they have learnt in teacher-led sessions. The program could be used in a computer suite where all the class have access to a computer; however it works equally well in a classroom with one or two computers, where students are allowed rotational access.
Teachers are able to select the activities that they want their pupils to complete and only these will be accessible from the pupils’ Activity Menu. Students can work on the activities individually or in small groups. The activities are short and highly focused, and designed so that pupils can manage their own learning i.e. the teacher should not have to get involved with what is happening at the computer. Students can check their own work or see the correct answers if they are struggling. The Student Report section allows the teacher to keep track of the activities each pupil has completed and gives an indication of performance.
