All Word, Excel and PowerPoint files created with Office 2007 will be inaccessible to users running older versions of Microsoft’s Office Suite (Office 2000, XP, or 2003). This incompatibility could potentially cause communication problems for organisations as Office 2007 is slowly rolled out worldwide. Thus a Word 2003 user who is sent a file in the new Word 2007 format will not be able to view or edit it. To help customers resolve this issue, Microsoft has made available an “Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats”.
