Powered by the proven techniques of visual learning, Inspiration® supports multiple learning styles with three unique environments for creating diagrams, outlines and mind maps. Using Inspiration, students develop critical thinking, planning and organisational skills for lifelong learning and achievement.
Students age 10 to adult use Inspiration to:
- Develop thinking skills
- Plan and organise
- Communicate clearly
- Analyse and recall

Diagram View helps students visualise ideas and the relationships between them. Outline View makes it easy for students to organise and structure information for writing. The Mind mapping environment lets students follow the natural process of building a mind map to visually represent concepts with branches of associated thoughts. Instantly transform a diagram or mind map into an outline.
Use Inspiration across the curriculum
Students use diagrams and mind maps to plan and organise information, improving performance across the curriculum. More than 60 templates get students started on assignments quickly by providing frameworks for gathering information and organising ideas. Templates include English, science, humanities, thinking skills and planning topics.
Visualise ideas, concepts and relationships
As students create diagrams and mind maps they learn to analyse, compare and evaluate information. They quickly brainstorm new ideas with the RapidFire® tool, search a collection of more than 1 million symbols to represent ideas with just the right image, and insert and play video and sound files — such as QuickTime® movies and MP3 files — right in Inspiration to enhance projects.
Improve writing proficiency
Students use visually integrated notes to expand topics and begin the writing process while working in the diagram or mind map environment. Students switch to the Integrated Outline View to further develop ideas. The innovative Word Guide — an integrated dictionary and thesaurus — helps students choose words with precision, and a contextual spell checker automatically identifies misspelled words.
Expand and finalise projects
Students drag-and-drop text, graphics, files and hyperlinks directly into Inspiration documents, making it easy to gather research and connect to files and web resources. To finalise projects, students transfer Inspiration files directly to a word processor or transform their work into the structure of a web site with the Site Skeleton® export tool.
