Especially beneficial for those who struggle with spelling. Designed for individual use at a computer.
Special Needs
The activities and levels can be customised and allocated to individual pupils under the 'play teachers choice' selection to allow for differentiation. The difficulty level is hidden and records are saved to allow the teacher to check pupil responses later. The screens are bright and colourful. The simple instructions for each activity screen are in written and spoken form. Clicking on the audio icon repeats the instruction. The preview screen before each activity allows the children to read and hear the target words before the activity begins. This is not a pre-requisite before the activity, as the start button can be clicked whenever the child feels ready to commence.
Before each activity commences, the list of words to be used are on the screen, each with its own sound icon to hear each word if necessary. The sound is clear to hear and is of male and female voices, not computerised speech. Struggling readers can click on an icon during the activity to hear the word repeated. The audio icon also reads the instructions aloud.

Age 7 to 9
The activity is timed so that children can try and beat their own or partners time if they wish. This can be turned off in the teacher set up menu if required.
