Browse Control helps you restrict inappropriate surfing and enforce Internet usage policies in your organisation. Browse Control can completely block internet, allow access only to Web sites you specify, deny web access to the websites you specify, and schedule internet ON at only certain times of day. E-mail, FTP sites, Instant Messaging, ICQ, Newsgroups, etc can also be restricted.

In addition to restricting internet activity, the latest version now includes an Application Blocker, which allows you to specify software applications you want to block the user from running. This can be useful in preventing users from using games, messaging programs, P2P applications or any unauthorised software.

Browse Control is an easy to use software solution that enables YOU to decide where and when students can access the internet. Browse Control gives you the control to enable and disable internet access on each PC or a group of PCs.

Another problem addressed is the use of unauthorised software e.g. games software, chat software, P2P applications such as Kazaa, etc. Our Application blocker can enforce your organisations software usage policy.

FEATURES

Easy to Manage

Browse Control reduces the burden on I.T. Technical staff since all the features can be locally managed by departmental managers or teachers who can enable/disable Internet access at departmental, classroom or individual PC level, or block unauthorised software such as games or any application which is a nuisance or dangerous.

Application Blocking

Control what times certain software can be used or totally block usage of certain applications to stop the abuse of software. This will help enforce your computer use policy.

  • Specify software applications to be blocked.
  • Internal name of Program used i.e. will work even if user renames the .exe file.

In addition, the Application Blocking feature lets companies build a “blocked list” of applications that users will no longer be able to launch from their PCs. Using Browse Control, administrators can quickly and easily block users from running dangerous, time-wasting or nuisance applications such as KaZaa, instant-messaging programs or specific games. Browse Control is bullet proof since it uses the software’s internal Windows name, so power users who decide to re-name their .exe files to scam Browse Control won’t make it.

Aimed at preventing employees from running time-wasting software such as Kazaa, MSN, games, etc., Browse Control will trap the launch of any application which is specified on the Browse Control AppBlocker list. A corporate message can also be displayed when any attempt is made by a user to run a blacklisted application. The Browse Control Application blocker will also benefit schools, where it can restrict students from launching unauthorized applications (such as games) during class.

Browse Control Components

Browse Control has two components:

Server Component (Console) - This component includes a Management Console that allows the administrator to control Internet access to Client PCs. This console can be installed on any Windows PC (server or workstation). A password can be set on the Browse Control Server so that you will be prompted for your password when trying to run the Console. This will secure the server from being used by any unauthorized user.

Client Component - to be installed on all PCs that need to be managed by the Browse Control Server.
The client is password protected and can also be hidden for extra security. Installation is very easy, it can be installed manually on each PC or by login script. The client runs transparently on the PC.
